The A Rocknroll Dance gelding Blacksadance wrote himself into the harness racing history books when he became the first pacer to break through the 1:50 barrier at Albion Park with his historic 1:49.2 mile on Saturday night (Sep. 10).
After sitting parked through fractions of 26.4 and 28.2, the five-year-old surged to the front approaching the three-quarter marker in 27 before booming home in 27.6 for an 11 metres triumph.
The win pushed Blackadanceās stakes tally to beyond $200,000.
A Rocknroll Dance, the sire of Blackasdance, stands at the new Somerset Farms stud of Pete and Chantal McMullen, who train and drive the record-breaking gelding.
Earlier in the night Blacksadanceās younger brother Big Wheels came from near last to win in a career-best 1:52.1.
A Rocknroll Dance was credited with a second sub 1:50 winner for the weekend when his brilliant daughter No Win No Feed won a $US22,000 Open in 1:49.8 at Hoosier Park, Indiana. The former NSW mare holds a mark of 1:49 and has a bankroll of $US458,175.
A Rockroll Dance, a $2.4 million winning son of Rocknroll Hanover, sired winners in five different States, as well as New Zealand and North America last week.
Other local winners sired by A Rocknroll Dance included the two-year-old Rocknroll Gig (1:55.7, Wagga), the three-year-olds Ideal Dance NZ (1:57.6, Echuca), Rainbow Classic (Redcliffe) and Stepping Wolf and the older performers Rocknroll Mama NZ (1:53.7, Newcastle), Island Rocknroll (1:58.7, Bendigo), Vulcan Star NZ (1:59.4, Pinjarra) and Be My Rock (Redcliffe).
In America, the two-year-old filly Caris provided the highlight of a busy week, winning a leg of the Golden Rod Series at The Red Mile in 1:54.8.
A Rocknroll Dance has jumped into seventh position on this yearās Australian All Aged siresā list with 139 individual winners and progeny earnings of $2.77 million and his sixth on the three-year-old list with 42 winners of $617,634.
