It was a special evening at Sydney’s harness racing headquarters Menangle tonight for young reinswoman Hannah Rixon.

The granddaughter of legendary horseman the late A.D. Turnbull added another success to the family’s record when claiming her first metropolitan victory.

Rixon guided the For A Reason mare Gigi Bob for the milestone – a pacer trained by her father Peter Rixon and bred and raced by her mother Cindy Rixon.

“It was an unreal feeling,” said Rixon.

“I didn’t really expect her to win so it was so exciting.”

Gigi Bob started at odds of $10 and from barrier seven, Rixon eased the five-year-old back to last while the favourite Pearl Harbour led from barrier eight.

The tempo was strong early and with the quarters posted in 26, 29.5, 27.8 and 28.9 seconds, Gigi Bob finished over the top of her rivals and beat the public elect by more than two metres.

The mile rate of 1:52.2 was a personal best for Gigi Bob, lowering her previous fastest winning rate by more than five seconds.

It was Rixon’s 38th success in the sulky since she began driving in the 2017/18 season.

Amongst her driving, the 21-year-old also studies paramedicine.
