Parisian Artiste outsprints Queen Elida

Six year old Parisian Artiste (Love You) scored a surprise harness racing win over Queen Elida in the Inter Dominion Trotting Championship Third round Heat 6 at Menangle Park last night.

Prior to last night Parisian Artiste had galloped badly at Bathurst and needed to win to make the final.

Queen Elida who had won her prior two heats was expected to repeat her successes but at the beginning he allowed Royal Dan who was drawn on the inside to lead. Parisian Artiste followed Queen Elida. 

Queen Elida moved out to tackle Royal Dan but she was hanging in. Royal Dan showed little resistance as Queen Elida dashed away but Parisian Artiste coming out in the centre of the track finished too well to win by just under 2 metres with Aldebaran Vera a fair way back in third placing.

Driver Tayla French expressed her surprise after the event

“I didn’t expect to win. I was happy to run 3rd or 4th and qualify to secure my berth in the Final. It couldn’t be better than that. I changed a few things after he did things wrong at Bathurst to get around safe and make sure he got everything right. When I was parked behind Queen Elida I didn’t expect that I would get past her. Royal Dan rolled us along and the tempo was good”.
