Clarendon horseman Pat Croghan, a member of one of Australian harness racing’s most successful harness racing families, has put his faith in the American import Captain Crunch at the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale at Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, April 6.

He has nominated two fillies for the sale and both are by the Captaintreacherous speedster.
Captain Crunch has sired three of the fastest two-year-olds in Australia this year in Rewatch (1:53), Soho Trump (1:54.5) and You Gotta Believe (1:54.7). Last season he produced 22 individual juvenile winners and was the third leading first crop sire.
The first of the Croghan draft is Lot 1, a strongly built filly out of the Art Major mare Karinda Gem (1:59.6), the dam of Loyola Trios (1:56.6), a winner of 18 races and $146,859, and Loyola Rocknrolla (1:58.6).
The filly belongs to the same family as the Australian Pacing Gold winner Bus To Harland, the Blacks A Fake winner Majestic Cruiser ($896,757) and the Vicbred champion Miki To Success.
“She’s a beautiful filly, correct and should go early,” Croghan said.
The other half of Croghan’s entry is Lot 41, a neat, compact filly who is the first foal of the Mr Feelgood mare Moonlite Diva.
A member of the family of millionaire pacers Leap To Fame, Swayzee and For A Reason, the filly boasts three strong strains of the blood of Artsplace.
“She’s a racy type of filly,” Croghan stated.
“They’re both on the market.”
Yearlings are eligible for the Redcliffe Sales Race Classics for two and three-year-olds carrying a guaranteed $175,000 in prizemoney. They are also eligible for the $4million QBred scheme, NSW Breeders Challenge, Vicbred, Bathurst Gold Crown and Cobbity Equine Classic.
