Evergreen and much travelled harness racing pacer Pete Said So (Well Said) caused a boilover when he came up along the inside with a well timed burst to take out the Second round Heat 6 of the Inter Dominion Pacing Championships at Bathurst last night.
The race was marred at the start raced in driving rain when hot favourite Minstrel galloped after the mobile was released and he was out of the race being tailed off.Ā
Seaton Grima drove for the lead on My Moonlite Dream with the Jason Grimson trained Cya Art settling behind the leader.Ā
Pete Said So was buried back on the rails but driver Robert Morris elected to stay on the fence and in the straight it was obvious in the heavy conditions that those behind could not make up ground. My Moonlite Dream fought back to hold off the challenge of Cya Art but Pete Said So finished too well and the outsider prevailed over My Moonlite Dream and Cya Art.
With his win Pete Said So moves up to the leading group of points scorers and he has top prospects of making the Final.Ā
PETE SAID SO REPLAY
After the race stewards reported that Minstrel had a gear malfunction which in closer detail revealed that one of his shortening pins did not release. More importantly he showed no abnormalities after the race so he will be back at Menangle on Saturday to try and take his place in the final.
