Office of Racing Integrity, Tasmania Stewards have concluded an inquiry into cobalt being detected above the threshold in urine samples taken from Ima Ginger Rogers following its win in the "Saunders Denture Clinic 3yo Fillies Championship" at the Launceston Pacing Club’s meeting held on Sunday 1 March 2015.
Analytical reports from The National Measurement Institute (NSW) and Racing Chemistry Laboratory (WA) which are both approved racing laboratories, indicated the presence of cobalt above the permitted threshold of 200 ug/L.
Trainer Phillip Aylett was found guilty of a charge under AR 190 (1) which states, "
A horse shall be presented for a race free of prohibited substances".
Upon hearing submissions with regard to penalty and taking into account all relevant factors, stewards disqualified Mr Aylett for a period of five (5) years.
The disqualification is to commence immediately and expire at midnight 31 August 2020.
In accordance with the provisions of AR 195 Ima Ginger Rogers was disqualified from its first placing and the race results will be amended accordingly.
