Plymouth Chubb back in work after injury

Star harness racing trotter Plymouth Chubb (Majestic Son) is back in work after requiring surgery on an old injury.

The multiple Group 1-winning squaregaiter underwent an operation to place screws in a leg after suffering a split pastern. The first occurrence of the injury was after his incredible two-year-old season where he won 14 races in-a-row.

Trainer Peter Manning is pleased with the five-year-old’s road to recovery.

“He (Plymouth Chubb) is back and he is in his third week of work,” Manning said. “According to the x-rays it all looks good and we should see him back in about two months.”

The gelding out of Pocket Fantasy was last seen at the races on January 20 in the Knight Pistol at Ballarat.

The Great Western trainer has given the winner of over $374,000 a gradual build-up ahead of a return to the track.

“He has been on light work and everything looks good,” he said.

Plymouth Chubb is a winner of 19 of his 36 races.
