Australasia’s pinnacle harness racing event, the Sky Racing Carnival of Miracles, returns to Club Menangle in 2023 from Saturday, 18 February – Saturday, 4 March.
Across the three nights of racing, the biggest names in the Southern Hemisphere will compete in a bid to join the elites that have their names already etched into our Carnival honour rolls.
Night One will see the four-year-old pacers take centre stage in the $250,000 Cordina Chicken Farms Chariots of Fire. As in recent years, the winner of the 2023 edition will not only walk away with a share of the prize money but will join the Newcastle Mile winner from the previous night with automatic qualification into the $1 Million Garrards Miracle Mile.
Saturday, 25 February, will see Club Menangle sparkle as Ladies Night lights up the track. The $200,000 John Gibson Memorial NSW Oaks Final for three-year-old fillies and the $200,000 Pryde’s Easifeed Queen Elizabeth II Mile for mares headline the racing program, while the $100,000 Allied Express and Schweppes Sprints will add another piece into the Miracle Mile puzzle with the first and second placegetters receiving an invitation to the$1,000,000 event.
Night Three is home to the $1,000,000 Garrards Miracle Mile, where horses like Hondo Grattan, Paleface Adios, Westburn Grant and, in more recent times, Smoken Up, Lennytheshark and King Of Swing have become champions of the Grand Circuit Event. The $200,000 NSW Derby for three-year-old pacers and the $100,000 The Light Horse will also add further excitement to the final night of the Carnival. The trotters will compete for Group One glory in the $100,000 Hammerhead Trotters Mile, which carries a $25,000 bonus that will be paid to the winning connections should the winner better the current Australasian Trotters record of 1.51.5 set by Maori Time.
