QBRED yearlings eligible for slice of $4 million pie

QBred yearlings being offered at the Ladbroke’s Sunshine Stars Yearling Sale to be conducted by Nutrien Equine at Magic Millions, Gold Coast on March 11 and 12 will be eligible for a lucrative harness racing scheme which offers over $4million in stakemoney and bonuses.

Of the 136 lots listed in the catalogue, 103 are QBred eligible.

The key features of the QBred For Life bonus scheme, introduced by Racing Queensland in 2019/20, are $14,000 First Win bonuses at any age upon winning a race with a stake value higher than $4,000; $7,500 in Second Win bonuses in any subsequent racing season following the First Win bonus being won, providing a race stake value higher than $4,000; and $1,000 bonuses on selected races.

Additionally, State-bred QBred’s are eligible for an additional $3,000 Third Win Bonus.

As well, the QBred incentive scheme offers rich classics for two, three and four-year-old pacers and two and three-year-old trotters.

The Group 1 QBred Triad offers $150,000 Finals for two-year-old pacers of each sex, $150,000 Finals for three-year-old pacers of each sex, $75,000 Finals for four-year-old pacers of each sex, a $50,000 Final for two-year-old trotters and a $50,000 Final for three-year-old trotters.

QBred yearlings are also eligible to compete in the QBred Breeders Classic Series and QBred For Life Feature Series.

The QBred Breeders Classic Series carries $25,000 Finals and $12,500 Consolations for two and three-year-old pacers of each sex, while the QBred For Life Series provides a $30,660 Final for two-year-olds and a $30,660 Final for three-year-olds of each sex. 

All horses sold at the Gold Coast auction are eligible for the Sunshine Stars Sale Race Series and the Nutrien Sales Race Series.

The Sunshine Stars Sale Race Series comprises Finals worth a guaranteed $125,000 for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings and $125,000 for two-year-old pacing fillies and $50,000 for two-year-old trotters to be conducted in 2024, $100,000 series for both three-year-old colts and geldings and fillies in 2025 and $50,000 races for four-year-old pacing entires and geldings and mares in 2026.

The Nutrien Sales Race Series carrying guaranteed Finals prizemoney of $175,000 for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings and $175,000 for two-year-old pacing fillies and

$62,500 races for both two-year-old trotting colts and geldings and fillies will be staged in 2024.

The three-year-old series, to be run in 2025, boasts separate $100,000 classics for pacing colts and geldings and fillies and separate $125,000 classics for trotting colts and geldings and fillies.

The two and three-year-old trotting series carry the generous sponsorship of Haras Des Trotteurs stud, Ballarat (Vic.).

Yearlings sustained and paid up for the Nutrien Sales Race Series receive automatic entry into the draw to win a Tuza two-horse angle load float, generously donated by Matt Tuza from Tuza Floats.
