When she won harness racing’s Group 3 Carlotta’s Pride Free-for-all at Melton last Saturday (June 11) the Love You mare Queen Elida firmly clinched her claim as the best four-year-old trotting mare in the country.

It was her ninth success from her last 10 starts, and she soundly trounced a smart lineup after being required to overcome a difficult barrier draw and a wide passage in the last 700 metres.

She was privately timed to run her last 800 metres in 56.2 seconds!

In 23 lifetime starts Queen Elida has now won 13 and been six times placed for $207,985 in stakes.

Lindy’s Love and Taimate Sass NZ, a pair of three-year-old fillies by Love You, scored impressive wins at Menangle and Bendigo respectively on the same day.

Lindy’s Love, who completed a winning hat trick, closely sharply after being blocked for racing room, while Taimate Sass took full advantage of the passing lane to notch her third success.

Love You, whose frozen semen is available from Haras Des Trotteurs, Ballarat (VIC.), is clearly the leading sire of three-year-old trotters this season in all categories – winners, races won and stakemoney.

Love You’s studmate Orlando Vici sired winners in two different states this week.

Cravache Dor, a placegetter in last year’s Vicbred Super Series 2YO Final, emerged successful at his first outing for six months at Kilmore, while Orlando’s Gift overcame a 10 metre handicap to post his third win at Globe Derby Park.
