The Racing For Prostate Cancer campaign returns in 2023 with Club Menangle, in partnership with Harness Racing NSW and Allied Express, excited to announce we will be raising funds and awareness throughout November for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Each year, about 25,000 Australian men are newly diagnosed with prostate cancer, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer for men in the country, with more than 3700 Australian men dying from the disease each year.
In Australia, about 250,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer are alive today, with prostate cancer having one of the highest survival rates of any cancer. 95% of men are likely to survive five years or more.
Club Menangle Chief Executive Officer Bruce Christison said “Our Club is again proud to be raising funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia in partnership with Harness Racing NSW and Allied Express just like we did in 2022.
We are looking forward to another successful campaign and hopefully improving on our final tally of eight wins from the previous year.”
Throughout November, Club Menangle will hold seven race meetings and, alongside Harness Racing NSW and Allied Express, have committed to donating $400 each for every win recorded by a horse carrying saddlecloth Number 4 at our Track. The driver of each horse wearing the Number 4 saddlecloth will also wear the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia silks.
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia Chief Executive Anne Savage thanked the club for their support.
āThe race night promises to be a great event in every way, raising vital funds and awareness for the 1 in 5 men in the local community who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Weāre tremendously proud to partner with Club Menangle to drive home our message about early detection and support.
Prostate cancer accounts for 1 in 3 cancers among men in the local community, which means raising awareness of early detection is so important.
The proceeds from the day will make a very big difference to men and families in the region.ā
On Saturday 25 November, Club Menangle will host the second edition of our Racing For Prostate Cancer Dinner, an evening of excitement and purpose to unite for a cause that affects many, raising awareness and funds for research and support.
Guests will be treated to a delicious three-course set menu, live harness racing and guest speakers, including Channel 7’s Michelle Bishop, who will join David Wilkinson, President of the Nepean Blue Mountains Prostate Cancer Support, shedding light on their personal experiences and the importance of early detection. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Exclusive corporate and sponsorship packages are available for businesses and individuals looking to amplify their impact.
Tickets are $85 per person. More information can be found by clicking here.
