He made his mark winning the best races in Australia with the mighty Beautide.

And former Tasmanian James Rattray has kept up a constant stream of wins since setting up a stable in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

He looks to have found his next stable star with London To A Brick (Bettor’s Delight), who scored the first of what could be many feature wins, scoring in last weekend’s $150,000 The Great Square at Brisbane’s Albion Park.

Still on cloud nine after beating some of the best three and four-year-old square gaiters in the country, Rattray returns to Menangle tonight with some bright prospects on the eight-race card.

This includes Gordons Bay (Captaintreacherous) ($3.75) in Race 3 and Tinder Surprise (Betterthancheddar) ($3.50) in Race 4.

“Gordons Bay has been doing a super job and he just keeps stepping up to the mark,” said Rattray.

“He’s a pretty versatile fellow so we’ll have a good look at the race and decide what to do.”

Tinder Surprise has also been a great money spinner for the stable and has been knocking on the door of a win with close finishes at his past seven starts.

Rattray rewarded young Canberra driver Taylah Osmond with all her hard work for the stable by giving her the steer at the gelding’s past two starts but hops back aboard himself tonight.

“Taylah does a great job with the horses and she gets the results,” said Rattray.

“She’s a kind driver and I’m not frightened to put her on at any stage.”

Meanwhile Rattray was thrilled with his feature win in Queensland and has earmarked some big races in Victoria for London To A Brick.

“It was super to travel up [to Qld] and take on the best four-year-olds with a three-year-old and everything just worked out perfectly for him,” he said.

“He travelled well the whole way and I always felt I had a horse under me.

“He’ll be set for a few races in Victoria now, the Need For Speed, Victoria Derby and Breeders Crown.”
