Red-letter week for Tasmanian breeder

9 October 2025
in Australia

The first week of October was a memorable one for northern Tasmanian studmaster-breeder Kerrie Hymers….both on and off the track!

Summa Cum Laude

Undoubtedly the highlight was the convincing end-to-end win of the homebred filly Bridwood Maisey (by Tell All) in the inaugural $20,000 Wayne Rattray 2YO Classic at Launceston at her second start.

Earlier in the week the six-year-old Twin Connection (by He’s Watching), who was also bred by Hymers, posted win No. 17 at Globe Derby Park.

Then on Saturday night, the mighty Lennytheshark, who stands at Hymers’ Tourello Standardbred stud, Sheffield, was inducted into the Victorian Harness Racing Hall of Fame.

Furthermore, the Somebeachsomwhere horse Summa Cum Laude, whose frozen semen is available from Tourello Standardbreds, continues to lead the first season sires in North America in 2025. His stock has earned $1.51 million, almost $200,000 ahead of the second placed Perfect Sting.

Summa Cum Laude is ranked in sixth position on the overall two-year-old table.
