Reggett trio have claims in Hobart

Harness racing trainer Kelly Reggett only had her first starter in late May and has certainly hit the ground running with a 22% winning strike rate from her 23 starters.

Sharkbite Alto

The Brighton-based trainer will be out to continue her good record in Hobart on Friday night, where she takes three runners to the meeting.

Reggett has two runners engaged in the third race of the program, both with winning claims.

Former Victorian-trained Sharkbite Alto (pictured) won first-up in Launceston on 6 August and has been placed in two of three runs since.

The Shadyshark Hanover gelding caused a false start and was placed out of the draw at the Launceston victory, with Friday’s race being his first back in the draw.

“He is a horse that can do a few things wrong, obviously, but being back in the draw will make a huge difference for him.

“It’s just a matter of him bringing his best behaviour,” said the trainer and part-owner.

Paul “Skip” Ashwood has driven the pacer in his last two outings and retains the drive again.

“He is a bit of a difficult horse to drive as he tends to get on the bit and take charge, and Skip has been able to handle that well,” Reggett said.

Also from the Reggett stable is Petrea Bromac, who goes into the race off two-second placings at her most recent efforts.

“Last start, she chased home well in good time and was a little bit unlucky.

“It suits her sitting back and running on like that, but the start before she fought on a lot better than I expected when working early,” explained the trainer, who has Mark Yole booked for the drive.

In the final race on the program, Aunty Bessy will step out for the first time for the Reggett stable after being recently purchased.

“I have only had her a short time, and I’m still sorting out a few things with her.

“Whatever she does on Friday night, I will expect her to improve on,” the trainer said.

Friday’s eight-race Hobart card commences at 17:47 and will be shown on Sky Racing 2 and TasracingTV.
