Rob McCartney is first to admit Zoom Zoom Boom (Smiling Shard) won’t emulate the racetrack deeds of his harness racing dam Pelicanrama.

Zoom Zoom Boom makes his debut in the Hygain Premiere Stakes at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.
One of the most prolific juvenile fillies to grace the track, the Peter Manning-trained Pelicanrama won 18 races as a two-year-old, including feature successes in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and South Australia.
“He’s no Pelicanrama that’s for sure,” McCartney said.
McCartney, who races Zoom Zoom Boom on lease, took delivery of the youngster in November and promptly qualified him to race.
“I heard that Kerrie Hymers was looking to lease him out and I thought being out of Pelicanrama he would be worth a try,” he said.
“He was going well prior to Christmas, but he has broken in his last two trials so I am still trying to educate him.
“He has to start somewhere and it’s not an overly strong field for a metropolitan race.”
The Julie Douglas-trained filly Remi Lou (Sweet Lou) is poised to break through for her maiden win after posting consecutive placings at her only two outings.
She finished third at Kilmore on debut before hitting the line hard when runner-up behind the undefeated Lux Aeterna in the Group 3 Pink Bonnet at Menangle last Saturday night.
Monday’s Maryborough winner My Bucks Night is the lone runner off the second row and driver Ryan Duffy has the choice on who he follows out from the mobile over the 1720m sprint trip.
My Bucks Night sat parked outside the $1.95 favorite Major Samir before gaining the upper hand over the concluding stages early this week.
The Andy Gath-trained pacer Outlaw Man faces the biggest test of his career when he tackles Group 1 winner A Gs White Socks and co. in the Markovina Free For All.
The five-year-old has proven somewhat of a revelation since arriving from New Zealand late last year, building a picket fence form-line of seven consecutive victories after winning just one of his previous 20 starts in his homeland.
Outlaw Man has been shrewdly placed in his past six starts – drawing to lead in each – however the son of Sweet Lou will need to show he is more than just a one-trick pony on Saturday night when he has to contend with an outside second row draw.
