The cream of South Australia’s two and three-year-old colts and fillies will be showcased at the feature harness racing meeting at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night.
The nine-race card is headlined by the Ladbroke’s SA Pacing Oaks for three-year-old fillies, the Hygain Sires Produce for three-year-old colts and geldings, the Seymour Group Lordship Stakes for two-year-old colts and geldings and the Kevin and Kay Seymour Ladyship Stakes for two-year-old fillies.
The Mount Gambier trained Lambro Mach, the very impressive winner of the heat and final of the Golden Nursery, looks head-and-shoulders above his rivals in the Lordship Stakes. The gelding will start from the No. 4 gate in the 1800 metres classic and will started at cramped odds.
The Ladyship Stakes looks a wide open affair with the polemarker Torque Intheusa, a Kindergarten heat winner and runner-up in the final, as the likely leader and the one to beat.
The Golden Nursery heat winner Shirley Not and the last start winners Machete Roulette and Kittykat Cutie will all have plenty of admirers.
Bay Jim Major, a recent second to Meteor Moth in the SA Derby, should go one better in the Sires Produce (2230 metres). Tonkawaikon, winner of the Gawler Derby and an SA Derby finalist, looks the obvious danger.
The Victorian filly Showsomejoy appears certain to have the Listed $17,500 Oaks (1800 metres) at her mercy. The Emma Stewart trained daughter of Art Major followed her clean sweep of the Vicbred Super Series with a close third in the Victoria Oaks.
The local filly Elusive, who has drawn the pole, is coming off a brilliant Sydney campaign which included successes in the heat and semi of the NSW Breeders Challenge and a second in the $150,000 Final. She looks certain to provide the interstate raider with some stern opposition.
The first of nine races is scheduled to start at 6.22pm (Adelaide time).
