Promising three year old gelding Seathestars (Captaintreacherous) named after the former champion galloper showed a touch of class with an impressive win in the City of Melton Pace at Melton on Saturday evening.

Driven by the inform Jordan Leedham who is having a phenomenal run of success Seathestars was helped early in the event with a hectic pace being set by Foxy Two Gloves, Busload of Faith and Hittheroadjack who was out three wide.
While this was all happening Seathestars was settled back near the rear of the field but turning into the back straight on the final occasion Leedham let Seathestars go with an electrifying burst to quickly charge clear by the final bend.
For a fleeting moment Triple Rock Saint looked a possible danger but Seathestars was still travelling strongly and he comfortably held off Triple Rock Saint and Mona Mia who finished on well without ever really threatening for third.
SEATHESTARS JUN 14 REPLAY
Jordan Leedham reflected on Seathestar’s winning performance.
“With the tempo being quite solid early and throughout I didn’t really want to risk getting on the outside fence around the last turn.”
“So I used his speed down the back to burn them off and then he did the rest.”
“To his credit he knocked off when he got in front on his own, when they were coming up next to him on the line he was getting going again.”“I think he’s going to be a pretty nice horse in twelve months time.”
“There was talk of him heading up to Queensland so after tonight that proves I think he’ll be ready for a trip up there.”
Seathestars is prepared by Geoff Webster who is one of the most respected trainers and comes from a distinguished family steeped in harness racing history.
Geoff’s father Lloyd and his uncles Dick and Norm were a major part of the South Australian harness racing history in the 70s.
Renowned for previous success with Flaming Flutter, Mister Swinger, Mr Zion amongst others Webster now appears to have a potential topliner in Seathestars who is part owned by prominent racehorse trainer John Hawkes.
Irrespective of whether he goes to Queensland, Seathestars looks to be something special and Webster has the touch and experience to get the best out of him.
