The eight-year-old Etonnant annexed his second Group 1 win when he took out harness racing’s prestigious Grand Criterium de Vitesse de la Cote dÁzur the Cagnes Sur Mer in Southern France last weekend.
Despite sitting parked throughout, the entire won by half a length in a slick 1:52.2 for the flying mile.
Etonnant is a son of the richest French trotter of all-time, Timoko, who won the Cot dÁzur himself on four occasions. The frozen semen of Timoko, the sire of more than 500 winners in France, is available in Australia and New Zealand from Haras Des Trotteurs, Ballarat (VIC.).
Quaker Jet’s outstanding daughter Im Ready Jet maintained her devastating form, coming from last to win the Group 2 $30,000 La Coocacacha Free-for-all at Melton. It was her 18th win – including nine at Group level – and lifted her stake tally to $374,000.
Love You, the sire of Quaker Jet, was represented by the very promising Chicago H NZ (Ballarat), Celebration Stride NZ (Swan Hill) and Father Christmas NZ, who posted win No. 19 at Redcliffe.
Megeve, by The Best Madrik a Group winning son of Coktail Jet, outsprinted her rivals at Geelong to record her fifth lifetime success.
Meanwhile, Surprise To Me, a four-year-old by the top percentage sire Used To Me and one of his first commercial crop, won his second race at Maryborough.
