He is still learning to race but Captaintreacherous gelding Captain Shuffles made all the right moves to claim Group 1 victory at Albion Park on Saturday night (Aug. 20).
The lightly-raced three-year-old won the $106,090 QBRED Triad Final giving trainer Ben Crosby his first Group 1 winner.
Driven by one of Queenslandās top reinsmen Shane Graham, Captain Shuffles worked forward from barrier three, leading throughout the 2138m feature.
With a last half covered in sectionals of 27.5 and 27.8 seconds, Captain Shuffles clocked a mile rate of 1:54.3.
āHeās a smart three-year-old,ā said Graham who had his first drive behind the pacer.
āHe was switching on and off and is still learning how to race.
āHe goes very well.ā
CAPTAIN SHUFFLES REPLAY
Captain Shuffles has had 11 starts for seven wins and has now won his last four starts in-a-row.
This includes a victory at Albion Park on August 5 where he rated a career best 1:51.6.
Captain Shufflesā success gave sire Captaintreacherous a Group 1 double at the meeting with smart filly Jewel Melody winning the two-year-old fillies QBRED Triad Final.
