The fast American import Catch The Fire (1:46.8), who is slated to stand his second ‘down under’ season at Pete and Chantal McMullen’s Somerset Farms in Queensland, gained a massive boost to his stocks with the success of the two-year-old colt My First Fire in a $US65,000 division of the Ohio Sires Stakes at Northfield Park recently.

The colt led throughout in 1:54.2 to post his first success.

Catch This Rocket, another of Catch The Fire’s first American crop, saluted at the same track in 1:56.8.

Of Catch The Fire’s first crop of 50 foals, 34 have raced and 14 have emerged successful with six in 1:56 and 11 in 2:00. They have earned more than $US350,000 in stakes.

Meanwhile, Catch The Fire’s Somerset Farms’ studmate A Rocknroll Dance continues to churn out metropolitan winners in every State and both islands of New Zealand.

Among his winners have been Whereyabinboppin 1:51.1 and Mini Mine Yet NZ 1:54.8 (both Menangle), the Melton victors Tango Tara NZ, Clymenus 1:54.6, Rockandance 1:54.2 and Aarchaa, the Albion Park winners Curly James 1:50.4, Laurie Dee 1:53.5 and Deecee Rockin 1:55.6, Solesseo Matuca 1:55.9, Unlucky and Rocknroll Spirit (all Gloucester Park) and the Addington winners Franco Hoffman and Jaccka Opa.

A Rocknroll Dance is in eighth position on this year’s All Aged Sires list with $2.7 million and sixth on the winner’s list with 131.
