In 1985 Annie Lennox of the British pop group the Eurythmics wrote a song called ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’. Lennox teamed up with the Queen Of Soul to release the song which shot into the Top 10 in a number of countries around the globe.
However, on Saturday July 10, 2021, we saw a new version and a new meaning in the world of sport that must carry the same tag, that being, ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’.
Ash Barty became the first Aussie in 41 years to claim the ladies Wimbledon Championship, South Australian jockey Jamie Kah rode her 100th Metropolitan winner at Caulfield and the South Aussie sisters of the cart drove the entire program once again at Globe Derby.
On a cold night at headquarters Dani Hill started the ball rolling with a race-to-race double with Jakes Sportwriter in the first and Ammicchi in the second.
Races 3 and 4 went to Tiana McMahon on board Sporty Frank and Uncle Leo.
Dani Hill won the trot on Galleons Victory and also finished the program with a win on Crockwell Jake, while squeezed in between Dani’s last two winners, Sam Pascoe won the fast class event on the South East trained Van Mara.
Dani Hill’s four winners took her local tally to 96 wins and with still have the season to go.

What a day for women’s sport Barty, Kah and our own team of Sisters doing it for themselves, driving the card for the second time. The girls also drove the card on June 5 this year.
