Lightly raced filly Soap and Bubbles (Lather Up) finally cracked a win at metropolitan headquarters against older opposition in the Renown Silverware Mares Pace at Melton on Saturday evening.

Although she was the least experienced runner, Soap And Bubbles was installed favourite ahead of Centofellie.
Driver Mark Pitt was patient early allowing Soap and Bubbles to settle back mid field. Nosweetsforyou took up the early running. Eastbro Chrissy was wide and then was outside the leader.
Soap And Bubbles made her run along the back straight and with one sprint she raced past the opposition with a winning break on the final bend. Urged on by Pitt Soap and Bubbles looked comfortable holding off Tallara’s Shadow who finished on for second with Centofillie in third placing.
SOAP AND BUBBLES SEP 27 REPLAY
Soap and Bubbles rated 1.55 for the 2240 metre trip. The filly is trained by Lisa Pitt who with husband Mark has a useful team in work.Mark Pitt commented after the event
“It’s great winning here at Melton. Lisa does a great job with her team. She’s spent a lot of work with this filly so all the credits got to go to her.”
“It was a pretty strong lead time with the first quarter. I was really hoping the tempo was on and then I could just come with one run because that’s the best way she can be driven. She’s pretty fast and she put them away pretty easy. It’s hard to know but when we first got her she was a maiden and she’s racing up to 79 class mares within six or seven runs. So it’s a big effort by her. I think we’ll have a crack at the Oaks in a fortnight’s time with her.”
On her performance Soap and Bubbles will be competitive in the Heats of the Oaks at Melton on October 11 with the $150,000 Final run a week later.
