The Rocknroll Hanover horse A Rocknroll Dance, who stands at the Somerset Farms stud of Pete and Chantal McMullen near Brisbane, sired a pair of heat winners in harness racing’s Southern Cross series at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night (Nov. 26).

Jamaican Rock, a two-year-old gelding, outstayed his rivals to post his fifth win from six starts, while the three-year-old Cobber scored a crushing win in 1:57.9 in his division. It was Cobber’s seventh win this season and 10th lifetime.

The A Rocknroll Dance filly Pas De Cheval earned a new speed badge of 1:54.3 when she claimed her eighth win in a NSW Breeders Challenge 3YO Regional heat at Bathurst.

Meanwhile, Island Rocknroll made it four wins on end when she outfinished her rivals in 1:57.8 at the Melton midweek meeting.

Other Australian winners sired by A Rocknroll Dance this week have been the three-year-olds Modern Jive (Shepparton), Island Tee Rex (Wagga) and Payton’s Rock NZ (Newcastle), Linxx (Mildura) and Duffy Hollow NZ (Warragul).

In New Zealand, A Rocknroll Dance led in a pair of three-year-old winners in Escape The Pace (Auckland) and Rocknallovertheword (Geraldine) and the four-year-old De La Renta, a winner at Addington.

A Rocknroll Dance is enjoying his bets-ever season in Australia with 170 individual winners – including 55 three-year-olds – and $3.8 million in progeny earnings and is in ninth position on the Sires’ premiership.
