Debutante two year old Sparkling Sea (Lather Up) scored the fastest time of the heats when she recorded a most impressive harness racing win in the Second Heat of the One Group Industries Gold Tiara at Bathurst on Wednesday night.
Sparkling Sea posted a mile rate of 1.53.8 thanks mainly to the fast pace set by firstly roan filly Smooth Jessie then by favourite Capture Our Heart who eventually took over the lead with a lap left to travel.

Brad Hewitt who had a trail on with Sparkling Sea moved up alongside Capture Our Heat and the two were locked together on the final bend. However Sparkling Sea showing great maturity moved away to win by just under six metres from Capture Our Heart with Swift Code third.
Hewitt commented on the filly
“We didn’t pull the plugs on her or anything. It was her first time off the pace at home.”
“She’s done a really good with a little bit in hand. Dave (trainer) has put a lot of time and effort into her and done a lot of work with her at home.”
“It’s just good when it all comes together on race day. Hopefully she’s good one more good run in her next week.”
Goulburn based Hewitt is aiming for a back to back success in the Gold Tiara after winning the coveted classic last year with Bittersweet.
