Spell paddock looming for Majestuoso

Key Inter Dominion Trotting Championship player Majestuoso (Majestic Son) is set to spell as harness racing trainer Andy Gath looks to get to the bottom of his recent below-par form.

Majestuoso

The star squaregaiter, who is currently a $7.50 chance for the time-honoured series later this year, will head to the paddock following his third placing in Saturday night’s Touch Merchant Trotters Free For All at Shepparton.

Majestuoso hasn’t won in three runs since his Group 1 Australian Trotting Grand Prix success in February, with a first-up seventh in the Lenin Trotters Free For All explained by a “tying up” issue in early June. The horse then galloped at the start before finishing second in the Noopy Kiosk and placed third at the weekend.

“I’m sure he has an issue by the way he is trotting,” Gath told thetrots.com.au.

Majestuoso is on the third line of betting behind New Zealanders Bolt For Brilliance and Sundees Son for the ID22 series.

Heats are set down for Ballarat (November 26), Shepparton (November 29) and Geelong (December 3) before the grand final at Melton (December 10).
