Harness Racing New South Wales recorded an operating surplus of $5,606,943 for Financial Year 2021/22 and a statutory surplus of $10,941,244 following the revaluation of industry properties.
The 2021/22 Annual Report that has been tabled in the NSW Parliament demonstrated the strength of the harness racing industry in the state as well as the proficiencies of the Controlling Body when supported by stakeholders.
Delivered throughout the year were:
- Increases in base prizemoney levels across NSW;
- Growth in the support of major Carnivals and feature events;
- Uplift in the breeding sector;
- The TAB Inter Dominion Championships which took the Heats to regional centres;
- Dedicated broadcast of the Inter Dominion Heats and Finals on Australiaās leading channel SKY Thoroughbred Central;
- Wagering turnover surpassed the billion dollar mark for the first time;
- Flood assistance grants of $0.385 were provided to affected participants;
- Administration funding of near $3million was given to Clubs;
- Significant investment is Asset Replacements for essential track and racing equipment; and
- Amendments to the Harness Racing Act were successfully attained by HRNSW.
The growth and health of the industry in New South Wales can be attributed to the stakeholders who have a positive outlook in taking harness racing forward off the back of sound leadership by the Board Members and a business strategy developed by the Executive Management of the controlling body.
