Talented pacer My Ultimate Byron will make his three-year-old debut at Menangle tonight.
One of the star two-year-olds in the state last season, My Ultimate Byron won seven of his eight starts in his freshman year.
The son ofĀ Somebeachsomewhere’s only defeat was in the Group 1 Breeders Challenge final when second to Tims A Trooper.
My Ultimate Byron has not been to the racetrack since that start on October 30.
He was set to trial at Menangle on Tuesday but was withdrawn when gaining a spot in tonightās $50,000 Group 2 feature, the Simpson Memorial.
The colt opened as the favourite for the race with his stablemate My Ultimate Baxter the second elect who is equal with the Darren Binskin-trained Valour Stride.
The latter won first up in 10 months on January 18 in a career best 1:54.9.
Smaltese will also have make his season debut in the race having not started since that Breeders Challenge final last year.
