She’s trained in Victoria, will race in New South Wales and be driven by a local, but there is no doubt which region Encipher is representing during the weekend.

The lone harness racing mare in Saturday night’s (Sep. 2) The Eureka at Club Menangle, Encipher (Captaintreacherous) is prepared by record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, who is the only trainer with dual runners in the $2.1million major.

Stewart, who also has The Lost Storm ready to tackle the world’s richest harness racing event, has engaged champion reinsman Luke McCarthy to partner the daughter of Captaintreacherous.

Proving herself to be the best of her crop during the last two seasons, Encipher was bred and is owned by South Australian participant, Tyson Linke.

Furthermore, the four-year-old will occupy the slot purchased by SA-orientated ABR and Summit Bloodstock.

Thrilled to have Encipher in the feature, Linke stated the excitement is already reaching peak levels.

“I’m getting keyed up,” Linke said. “It’s all a bit exciting.

“I’ll go over to Sydney tomorrow where I will start to act nervously.”

Drawn barrier five, Encipher slots into three with the removal of the emergencies, with TAB Fixed Odds listing the four-year-old at $21.

“It is a massive step up and I just hope she can keep up,” Linke said. “About a hundred things will have to go right for her to win, but we’re in it, which is incredible.”
