With a major harness racing feature in Victoria next weekend plans could change for Bettor’s Delight mare Braeview Kelly.
The former New Zealand mare has been ultra consistent since joining the Australian scene and her 1:49.6 win at Menangle on Saturday night (Oct. 22) now has connections considering a bigger target.
Braeview Kelly won the Group 3 Frith Stakes when rating her sub 1:50 mile rate, becoming the fastest mare in Australia for the season.
Trainer Jack Trainor is now considering taking her to Melton next Saturday for the $100,000 Queen Of The Pacific.
“It’s pretty hard to keep her in the box after that,” said Trainor.
“She showed that she is up there with the better mares and next weekend in Melbourne is the Queen Of The Pacific or we tip her out on a high note.”
Braeview Kelly led throughout to claim her quick mile.
With Trainor at the reins, the four-year-old went through the quarters in 26.8, 28.7, 26.8 and 27.3 seconds.
BRAEVIEW KELLY REPLAY
“I have been really happy with her since her last run,” said Trainor.
“To break the 1:50 is pretty cool, especially for her breeding.”
Braeview Kelly has had eight starts in Australia for six wins and two placings.
Her overall record is 13 wins and 10 placings in 43 starts.
