Harness racing’s star Art Major filly Amore Vita will continue her Oaks raid following her effortless victory in Saturday’s $31,160 Group 3 Redcliffe Oaks.
The Nathan Purdon-trained three-year-old was driven Cameron Hart who took Amore Vita straight to the lead.
Rolling through the sectionals in 29.8, 29.5, 27.8 and 28.6 seconds, Amore Vita clocked 1:56.5 to beat Soho Rhapsody (American Ideal) by more than five metres.
“She’s got a big motor and was able to run some strong sectionals tonight,” said Hart.
“She wanted to get on with the job so I had to go with her a bit.
“She has such high speed and strength as well and she did it all with the ear plugs still in.”
AMORE VITA REPLAY
That was Hart’s second drive on Amore Vita after winning a heat of the New South Wales Oaks with her at Menangle in February.
Amore Vita has now had 13 starts in Australia under Purdon’s care for 10 wins and three placings.
“She is a very smart filly,” Purdon said.
“She’s just too good but as good as she is, she is still improving and is a filly that needs to fill out.”
Purdon stated Amore Vita will continue chasing Oaks races with the $30,600 South Wast Oaks at Albion Park on July 16 and the $102,000 Queensland Oaks at the same venue on July 23.
