Queensland pacer Frankie Ferocious (Captaintreacherous) served notice he will be a serious contender in the Group 1 Chariots Of Fire with a stunning harness racing win in the 4YO Bonanza at Melton.Ā
Having its first start for NSW trainer Jason Grimson, Frankie Ferocious settled three back along the pegs while the $2.50 favorite Captains Knock worked to the early lead.Ā
Gun young driver Cameron Hart managed to extricate Frankie Ferocious away from the pegs approaching the home turn and Frankie Ferocious unleashed a paralyzing burst of speed to quickly gather in the leader in a couple of bounds.Ā
The winner returned a mile rate of 1:51.6 for the 1720 metre journey and receives an automatic invitation into the Chariots Of Fire at Menangle.Ā

Hart was suitably impressed by the win.Ā
āIāve been lucky enough to drive some nice ones but this horse showed a lethal turn of foot tonight and the way he did it was pretty impressive, āHart said.Ā
Hart conceded he needed luck from where he was in the run.Ā
āI would have liked a bit more speed on but I could see the one one horse had been tapped up from the start of the back straight and was hoping that I would be able to get out or use the sprint lane and he was super once I got him into the clear,ā he said.Ā
Hart believes Frankie Ferocious is a live hope in the Chariots Of Fire.Ā
āObviously Jason has a knack of getting everything out of every horse that he gets and with the speed he showed tonight and up in Queensland he showed that he could do a little bit of work in the run,Ā so he looks as though heās got most of the strings to his bow,ā he said.Ā Ā
