The Locomotive steams away again

Freewheeling tearaway The Locomotive (Muscle Mass) continued his winning ways with a brilliant all the way harness racing win in the Inter Dominion Trotters Championship Second round Heat 4 at Bathurst last night. 

In doing so The Locomotive smashed the track record returning a mile rate of 1.55.6 for the 1730 metres on a rain affected track.

The pace was on from the start when Mufasa Metro challenged The Locomotive for the lead but driver Brad Hewitt had no intention of surrendering the front.

The Locomotive shook off Mufasa Metro with a scintillating 27.7 seconds for the third quarter. However Aldebaran Zeus a stablemate of the previous winner Queen Elida had the perfect one out and one back trail and he set out in hot pursuit along with Aldebaran Vera.

However The Locomotive although shortening stride in the home straight had enough in reserve to hold off Aldebaran Zeus and Aldebaran Vera. 

There’s no doubt that The Locomotive is a sight to see when he is running along in the lead and patrons will be eagerly awaiting the clash with Queen Elida when they contest the final on Saturday week.

Royal Dan who was drawn on the second row once again had no luck being well back on the rails and he only needs to draw the front row in the next round to be prominent and still rate a chance if he makes the Final.
