Top harness racing driver Cameron Hart was certainly at his peak at Menangle on Saturday night dominating the Breeders Challenge Semi-Finals.
The leading New South Wales driver qualified three horses for the $150,000 Breeders Challenge Two-Year-Old Group 1 Finals at Menangle on October 30 . . . and this is where the problem lies.
Hart won both colts and geldings qualifiers with My Ultimate Ronnie and My Ultimate Byron, arguably the two top two-year-olds in the country, and he has to pick which one he will drive for the final.
The young reinsman is capable of some superhuman results at reins but driving two horses in the one race is something not even the harness racing Gods could do.
So which horse does he drive?
The fastest two-year-old in Australia this season, which My Ultimate Ronnie became when winning his Semi which was rounded up to 1:50.4?
Or, does Hart stick with the unbeaten My Ultimate Byron who made it seven wins in as many starts last Saturday night?
āWith all things going well, Iāll stick with Byron,ā said Hart.
āI couldnāt have been more impressed with his run on Saturday night and was only getting going across the line.
āHeās a good horse with a big motor.ā
So the question is, who will drive My Ultimate Ronnie?
Hart has driven the son of Bettors Delight in five of his six starts, with trainer Jarrod Alchin taking the reins that one other time.
But Alchin has ruled out himself for the drive.
āWe still havenāt confirmed who will drive Ronnie,ā said Alchin.
āThere are two drivers in mind but we will come to that decision in the coming days.
āThis horse is coming right at the perfect time.
āI always thought he would be my best three-year-old next season but heās quickly come around.
āThe quicker they go the more Ronnie loves it and he won easy on Saturday night, he still had his plugs in and Cam came off and said he would have broke 50 if he wanted too which is scary.ā
Alchin and Hartās other Breeders Challenge Semi-Final winner was the Bling It On filly Madrid which Hart will drive in the Final.
So the question is, who will drive āRonnieā?
