Honest pacer Tims A Trooper (Tintin In America) was rewarded for his consistency when he came with a well timed burst to take out the I H Capital pace at Albion Park on Saturday night.
Jimartee was sent out a short favourite on the strength of his ideal barrier draw from 2 and his driver Ricky Thurlow took full advantage to go to the lead early and hold out Braedo’s Lad and the second favourite Wisper A Secret.
TIMS A TROOPER APR 5 REPLAY
In fact Wisper A Secret despite his fast pace from out wide could not get across to secure a trail and driver Pete McMullen had no option but to ease back to the rear. Meanwhile Jack Chapple on Tims a Trooper was able to secure a one out and two back trail.
The race appeared to be falling into the lap of Jimartee who looked to be cruising in the lead.
Deus Ex who had some support was behind the leader. However on the final bend Jimartee started to paddle and Deus Ex made a spirited run along the rail.
But at the same time Chapple made his run and he sprinted quickly to gain the upper hand from Deus Ex with Jimartee two metres away in third.

Wisper A Secret finished fifth but he came from a clear last in the final lap and given that the last quarter was run in 27.8 seconds it was a really good performance. He has a lot of ability and with a bit more luck in the draw he will be hard to beat in his next effort.
Tims A Trooper has been a worthy money spinner for Grant Dixon and owner Kevin Seymour having won just under $450,000. And he certainly has been a more than second string to his illustrious stable mate Leap to Fame.
