Tims A Trooper on Derby trail

Brilliant Tintin In America three-year-old Tims A Trooper tuned up for next Saturday’s NSW Derby heats with an emphatic win at Albion Park on Friday (February 18).

The gelding, who won the NSW Breeders Challenge Final as a two-year-old last season, led throughout at his three-year-old debut to win by 14.9 metres in a 1:54.5 rate for 1660 metres including a 55.8 seconds closing 800.

Bred and raised by Yirribee Pacing Stud, Tims A Trooper has now won three races and $142,235 in stakes.

Former world champion Warrawee Needy enjoyed a big week with winners in USA, Canada and NSW.

The two-year-old filly Saveeon was a most impressive winner on debut at Bathurst, coming from midfield to win in a 1:58.1 rate with the last half in 57.9.

Lady Zegna, a four-year-old mare by Warrawee Needy, made it two wins from three starts at Pinjarra last Monday, while Im So Needy won in a career-best 1:55 from the front end at Wagga.

In North America, Warrawee Needy was represented by Heresthatmanagain, a winner in 1:55.8 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Canada, and Needingoffthegrid (1:58.6, Northfield Park, Ohio).

Lombo Pocket Watch, the former outstanding juvenile, left winners at Launceston in The Black Assassin (his 27th win) and Winamotza (Penrith).

Tintin In America, Warrawe Needy and Lombo Pocket Watch are based at Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga (NSW).
