TAB Eureka “top seed” Frankie Ferocious will take his first step towards a racetrack return in a Menangle trial on Wednesday.

Trainer Jason Grimson has a deliberate plan to take the Chariots Of Fire winner into a Queensland raid fresh.

“He goes best fresh, so he’ll probably only have one before the Rising Sun (July 13),” he said.

“He will trial Wednesday, then again the following Wednesday before he heads to Queensland with the rest of my team.”

The Queensland-owned Frankie Ferocious hasn’t raced since a fantastic fourth from a horror draw behind Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile on March 9.

Confirmed TAB Eureka runner Captains Knock will return from a let-up at Menangle on Saturday night.

Captains Knock was locked in early for the Cordina Racing slot.

While boom pacer Extreme Sea, trained by Hewitts’s father David, has been freshened since thrashing his rivals in three recent Menangle runs.

“You won’t see him at the races for three or four weeks,” Brad Hewitt said.

Trainer-driver David Moran said his contender, Captain Hammerhead, had been freshened after three wins from his past four Melton starts and would not race again until at least June 15.

He’s another being set for a Brisbane raid with the Rising Sun the target.

TAB Eureka contenders For Real Life and Eye Keep Smiling both won well at Albion Park last Saturday night.

For Real Life’s win, after a minor setback and in blistering time, saw him move up one spot in the TAB Eureka Power Rankings. He’s now fourth, with The Lost Storm down to fifth.

Meanwhile, Perfect Class pushed his case for consideration with an impressive first-up win at Melton last Saturday night.

He joins Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin stablemates The Lost Storm, Petracca and High Above as genuine contenders.
