He has been consistent all season and that paid off for Tintin In America gelding Mahomes at Sydney’s harness racing home, Menangle, on Saturday night (Nov. 12).
Mahomes blitzed his rivals in the Breeders Challenge Blue Final – the first year the feature has been worth a record $100,000.

The moment was not only special for the pacer’s large bunch of owners who sport Patrick Mahomes jerseys each time the three-year-old races, it also gave trainer Peter Russo his first Group 1 victory.
It gave reinsman Jack Trainor his 10th Group 1 win.
“This horse does deserve this and so does Pete Russo the trainer,” said Trainor.
“Pete has done every thing right by this horse, tipped him out when he needed to and wasn’t greedy.
“To get a Group 1 win for a very enthusiastic bunch of owners is fantastic and for Peter as well.”
Trainor speared Mahomes out of barrier seven where they raced outside the leader momentarily before gaining cover.
Last season’s Breeders Challenge winner Tims A Trooper worked his way to the lead and the first three sectionals were 26.9, 28,7 and 28.2 seconds.
Mahomes overcame a final sectional of 27.9 to win by nine metres over Tims A Trooper and Foxy Dada in a rate of 1:51.7.
MAHOMES REPLAY
“He let down so well once he was clear,” said Trainor.
“It was a pretty special win.”
Mahomes extended his record to 11 wins in 22 starts and three placings with earnings of $146,975.
