Classy filly Delightfull Tammy (Bettors Delight) has strengthened her claim for a coveted title with another stylish harness racing win at Globe Derby.
Destined to be named South Australian Three-Year-Old of the Year, Delightfull Tammy is bound to be among the leading contenders for overall state honours.
With the open class ranks and most aged categories evenly-spread, Delightfull Tammy’s record of five wins from seven starts is sure to impress selectors.
During her stint with renowned horseman Toby Ryan, the daughter of Bettors Delight has captured the SA Oaks, Mermaid Stake, SAHRC Derby and last night’s Southern Cross Final.
“She has done a tremendous job since she has been here,” Ryan’s wife and regular driver, Lisa, said. “She hasn’t set a hoof wrong.
“We were talking last night about how she would have to be in the running for the awards given she’s won two of our biggest races for her age.”
With Lisa in the cart, Delightfull Tammy worked forward from barrier four to be settled outside the leader, Sunshineanrainbows.
Bullocking her way to the front during the latter stages, Delightfull Tammy cruised to an eight-and-a-half metre win from Always Steamed Up.
DELIGHTFUL TAMMY REPLAY
Sunshineanrainbows was two-and-a-half metres away third in 1:58.4 over 2230 metres.
“She did it the hard way and still found the line well,” Lisa said. “It was a good tough run from her.
“That will see her out for the season and she’ll go back to Victoria now.”
