When the five-year-old Orlandos Gift outfinished his rivals at Melton on Monday (August 2) he became the 15th individual winner from 15 Australian-bred starters for his sire, the French bred Orlando Vici.
Orlandos Gift, who was bred by Pat Driscoll’s Yabby Dam Farms, is one of the first crop of Orlando Vici which produced 11 foals for 11 winners. They have won 58 races and $541,789 in stakes – an average of $49,254 per foal!
They include the multiple Group 1 placegetter Brandlo Prince 1:58.9 ($130,060), the NSW Trotters Derby winner Xebec, Deneuve Star (1:56.6), the Vicbred 3YO Silver winner Just Believe and Beau Garcon (Breeders Crown Silver 2YO).
In all, Orlando Vici, a nine-time Group winner himself, has sired 15 Australian winners from 18 foals three-year-old or older. They have amassed $612,999, an average of $40,867 per starter.
Orlando Vici’s Haras Des Trotteur’s studmates Love You and Used To Me both left three-year-old winners recently.
Lucky Charm (by Used To Me) notched her second win – by 15 metres – at Pinjarra, while Jasinova (by Love You) scored for the second time at Auckland, New Zealand.
