He has won two of Australia’s most prestigious harness races and now renowned Bathurst trainer Steve Turnbull is edging closer to a significant milestone.
The premiership-winning horseman is nearing 4000 wins in his career.
With 3950 winners to his credit, including success in the Inter Dominion and Miracle Mile in the early 2000s’ with Smooth Satin, Turnbull will be hoping his three starters nominated at the last meeting of the season at Parkes on Friday night can add to his successful record.
Turnbull has a two-pronged attack in the feature event at the Carnival of Cups meeting, the Parkes Gold Cup.
His starters are Smooth Baht and Firestorm Red who have drawn the outside barriers on the second row.
Turnbull will drive last-start winner Smooth Baht and Turnbullās son will drive Firestorm Red.
Turnbullās daughter Amanda also has two horses in the feature with Fasika and Sweet Heaven while his son Josh has Bettor Jiggle who will be driven by Nathan Turnbull, Turnbullās oldest son.
