THE father and daughter harness racing team of Craig and Abbey Turnbull combined to take out the Mercury 80 Final with Dalvey Robyn (Washington VC) at Melton.Ā
Dalvey Robyn settled towards the rear of the field over the 1200 metre dash and Abbey Turnbull opted to pull out and make her assault on the leaders with 700 metres to travel after a blistering 26.6 first quarter.Ā
Dalvey Robyn ($10) joined in three wide around the home turn,Ā and despite laying in over the concluding stages, managed to poke his head out on the line to score by a head from Jillibyjacksparrow with La Captain a metre away third.Ā
Turnbull said the frantic early tempo played into the hands of Dalvey Robyn.Ā
āWhen the speed was on in that first quarter we were pretty happy,ā Turnbull said.Ā
āI was pretty happy with how it was run early and how Dalvey was feeling and it was probably a bit early to take off and he felt it a little bit late, but he was good enough to get the job done,ā she said.Ā

The six-year-old had been placed at his previous three starts and was overdue for a change of luck according to Turnbull.Ā Ā
āWeāve been absolutely rapt with the way heās been going, heās just been needing a bit of luck lately and tonight we got it,ā she said.
