The siblings Ultimaction winner of the Shirley Martin Mother of Pearl and Miki Sing, both out of the talented racemare Powerful Princess, delivered a notable double at Launceston on Sunday. The pair were bred by Marc Panton, a well-known figure throughout the harness racing industry for his work with Equine Reproduction Services.

Panton lives in Victoria but maintains his broodmare band at Melissa Maine’s Faithful Park in Latrobe on Tasmania’s North West Coast, and his focus now turns to next year’s Nutrien Yearling Sale, to be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at Quercus Park.
“Until a few years ago, I did most of my breeding in Victoria but because of the improvements made by Tasracing with the breeding bonuses, a ramped up Sires Stakes program and additional features, I am now breeding mainly in Tasmania,” Panton said.
He has nominated six yearlings for the 2026 Nutrien sale, offering a diverse and well-related draft:
- Two fillies • A filly by Ultimate Machete from Myra Maybelle, a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Nola Mayham (Bandbox & Granny Smith). • A filly by Ride High from the five‑time winner Honey Chicken.
- A gelding by Ultimate Machete from Giftofjoy, dam of this season’s two‑year‑old winner Morikawa. This colt hails from a powerful New Zealand family featuring Group 1 winner Joyfulljoy and WA star Jumpingjackmac.
- A gelding by Ride High, the first foal from ten‑time winner Kuyomi.
- A gelding by Tintin In America from the family of Nola Mayham.
- A colt by Art Major out of Camel Jojo, already the dam of two winners.
All of the Panton draft is prepared for sale by Melissa Maine.
