Breeders Brian and Marilyn Gourley have been breeding from the Sokys Atom mare Sokys Number and the mares daughters for close to 25 years and this Saturday night (Mar. 25) they have a rare opportunity to breed two Group One 2yo winners at the same harness racing meeting.
Sokys Number is a former Australian Broodmare of the Year with her son Saab winning at Group One level as a 2yo, 3yo and 4yo and that coltās full-brother Talladega being named Australian 2yo Pacer of the Year.
Among the fillies Brian and Marilyn Gourley bred from Sokys Number was the Classic Garry winner Saabette p,1:56.2 which won nine races and is now the dam of eight winners including the Tamworth City Cup winner Gottashopearly p,1:53.1 $200,074, the Group Two 2yo winner Bettors Ace p,1:56.0 $182,156 and the Group Three Vicbred Platinum winner Lierre Nior p,1:54.4 $131,629.
Saabetteās 13th foal, a filly by Tintin In America, is Lot 412 in Nutrienās Melbourne Yearling Sale which is part of the first dayās selling on Sunday 2nd April.
Two daughters of Saabette will be represented on Saturday night in the $150,000 Group One Finals of the Gold Crown and Gold Tiara.
The previously mentioned Lierre Noir in the dam of the Sweet Lou colt Tomahawk Bart which took out the first heat of the Gold Crown last Friday night.
The first heat of the Gold Tiara last Wednesday was won by the For A Reason filly Forever Skyfall.
Forever Skyfall is the first foal from the Bettors Delight mare Swedish Miss. Placed at her only two starts as a 3yo Swedish Miss is by Bettors Delight from Saabette.
It will be a remarkable result if Tomahawk Bart and Forever Skyfall can win their respective finals and add even more kudos to Lot 412 the following week.
