The South Australian racing community is mourning the loss of one of its horsemen, Mark Webster.
After a lengthy battle with illness, Mark passed away on Wednesday aged 58.
During his years in harness racing, Mark drove 969 winners, as electronic records have kept, and trained 447 winners since the mid 1980sā.
He always āhad a handy horseā as trainer-driver Geoff Webster said.
āMark was always around horses,ā said Geoff.
āHe grew up with all of us and his dad used to break horses in at the Klemzig track.
āHe took up playing footy and played six to 10 games for North Adelaide, he was a handy footballer.
āBut, like all of us, the harness bug crept in and he started training horses.
āHe moved out to Angle Vale and thatās where he had been for the rest of his life.
āHe always had a handy horse . . . Zulu Lou was definitely one of his best, he was a nice country cups horse.ā
Mark is survived by his wife Carolyn and children Laura and Anthony.
Harnesslink extends its condolences to Markās family and friends.
