Rock N Roll Doo (Rock N Roll Heaven) is on New Zealand soil.
The star pacer’s harness racing trainer Michael Stanley let followers know via Twitter on Thursday morning that last weekend’s Victoria Cup champion had made it across the Tasman safe and sound.
“We have arrived safely on NZ soil in great shape and (he) has handled the trip like a professional,” Stanley wrote.
Rock N Roll Doo is the $4 second favourite for the time-honoured New Zealand Cup and will look to become just the second Australian-trained horse this century to win the race on November 8.
Michael Guerin reported this week that, all going well, Rock N Roll Doo would have a lead-up run in the Ashburton Flying Stakes on October 24 to get his eye in and iron out any pre-Cup bugs.
“That’s the dream isn’t it,” Stanley said in regards to the NZ Cup, moments after Saturday night’s Group 1 triumph.
“You don’t get horses like this very often. We are up for a challenge and he’s earned his right to have a crack. I’m sure he will go there and do us proud.”
