Talented Auckland Reactor gelding Willie Go West NZ came within a whisker of breaking the track record when he scored a dashing end-to-end win in the Group 3 $35,000 Maryborough Gold Cup on Sunday (October 17).
The four-year-old rated 1:55.8 for 2690 metres with the last mile in 1:53.6 and the final half in 55.9.
It was his eighth success from only 17 starts and sent his stake tally over the $100,000 plateau.
The win also pushed Auckland Reactorās seasonal earnings in Australia to more than $1.5 million.
Earlier in the week, the Auckland Reactor three-year-old filly Hannah Macella posted her maiden win at only her second start in leading throughout for a convincing success at Gloucester Park.
Auckland Reactor took the siring honours at Northam (WA) on Saturday night with a winning double in Rosa De Oro (1:59) and Richie Reactor (1:59.1).
Other Auckland Reactor winners for the week were Chooz Reactor (1:57.9, Swan Hill) and Watch Me React (Collie).
