A feature of the Southern Stars SA Yearling Sale, to be held at the Gawler Barossa Jockey Club Complex, Evanston on Sunday, March 26, is the strong percentage of harness racing youngsters out of winner or winner-producing dams.
The list of race-winning dams includes the Australian Pacing Gold placegetter Von Rita, the Gloucester Park winner Hear No Secret NZ, Kash NZ (1:55.8), the SA Golden Nursery placegetter Nevada Roulette, the SA BOTRA Nursery Pace runner-up Closure, Takeiteasyonme NZ (11 wins) and the Melton winner Audaz Bonita (1:56.2),
The dams listed in the catalogue have left the feature race and metropolitan winners Jumping Jolt (SA Sires Produce and Gawler and Mount Gambier Derbies), Jamaican Rock (SA Silver Salver), Rupert Ross (SA Kindergarten and Sapling Stakes), the Bathurst Gold Crown heat winner Soho Thunderstruck (1:55.9), the SA Oaks and Derby placegetter Honeybun, the Vicbred heat winner Licinia, Jilliby Shania 1:55.7 (Melton), recent two-year-old winner Star Man and Scrawl (1:57.9).
The grand-dams of the yearlings have produced a host of smart performers such as the SA Southern Cross winners Thorninmyside, King Grin, Forty Seven Flash, Leftem For Dead and Direct Cindy, Nomore Forusir ($198,663), Muchos Gratias (SA BOTRA 2YO Pace), the Breeders Crown heat winner Gracenator, Equity ($110,605), the Australian Pacing Gold placegetter Sterita, the Victoria Legends runner-up Just Callme Cullen and the Southern Cross placegetter Hope Eternal.
All yearlings offered through the sale are eligible for the $50,000 Southern Stars Yearling Sale Race to be conducted at Globe Derby Park no later thanĀ June 30, 2024.
A $20,000 bonus will be paid to the owner of the first filly past the post, aĀ $2,000 bonus to the winning breeder and a $2,000 bonus to the breeder of the first filly past the post.
