Talented two year old Wishing Belle (Bettors Wish) made it two wins from three harness racing appearances when she led all the way to take out the Listed $35,000 North West Fibreglass Gold Bracelet at Gloucester Park last night.
Usual driver and trainer Aiden de Campo was suspended and he requested that Trent Wheeler take the reins. Drawn the pole the odds on favourite had no trouble holding the early lead and the only danger Miss Red Velvet had no option but to race outside the leader.
Kyle Symington aboard Miss Red Velvet made sure that Wishing Belle didn’t have it all her own way in front as he edged his filly closer alongside Wishing Belle.

The two were locked together nearing the final bend but Wishing Belle responded when Wheeler gave her rein and she cleared away in the home straight to defeat a determined Miss Red Velvet by just over five metres with The Sea Siren a further metre away third.
Driver Trent Wheeler was pleased with Wishing Belle’s effort.
“Aiden said she’ll always try that little bit harder and when Kyle come at me she was always just happy to keep going a little bit faster.”
“She’s got a very good attitude and is just another one of Aidan’s two year olds that are very well mannered which makes life a lot easier.”
Acknowledging that there will be some attractive forthcoming races Wheeler stated
“Aiden will get her ready for the next ones and he’ll be back in the bike then.”
Wishing Belle is a striking well built filly and on her current form is likely to be prominent in the classic two year old events.
Miss Red Velvet’s run in having to sit outside the leader was full of merit and she is not that far behind. In fact much will depend on barrier draws on who gets the better run in future races.
