Mystic Shadow (Shadow Play) upset the likes of Grey Sea and Pirate Booty in a late-charging Fillies and Mares Preferred harness racing victory on Friday (Feb. 22) at Fraser Downs.
Brad Watt tucked Mystic Shadow away sixth through opening splits of :27 and :56.3 set by Hang On Sloopy (Scott Knight) and Grey Sea (John Abbott), respectively. The mare moved out onto cover coming down the backstretch and made little progress until he ignited midway down the lane. He flew by four rivals and stopped the clock in 1:55.1. Grey Sea was bested by three-quarters-of-a-length but held on for second over Pirate Booty (Terry Kaufman).
