Hp Royal Theo (Royalty For Life) rocketed up in class and soared to victory lane at long odds in the $35,000 Preferred harness racing trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Sep. 5).
The gelding dropped back to fourth from his inside start for Louis-Philippe Roy as Ahundreddollarbill (James MacDonald) moved forward to the front. The latter cut :27.3 and :56.4 panels, and Hp Royal Theo slipped into the outside flow as the field rounded the final turn.
Roy held Hp Royal Theo on cover through three-quarters in 1:24.4 and into the stretch. He swung the gelding out as they passed the eighth pole and urged him past Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) to score in 1:52.3.
He was three-quarters of a length clear of Patriarch Hanover, who finished second. Pikachu Hanover (Trevor Henry) was third. The win price was $59.80.
